AI Analysis
LOP uses Claude AI to analyze your pallet arrangements and provide plain-language explanations, improvement suggestions, and risk assessments. AI Analysis is an optional feature that adds human-readable context to the numerical scores and statistics.
How to Access AI Analysis
AI Analysis is available in two places:
In the Palletize Panel
After running Auto-Pack on a pallet, the "AI Analysis" button appears below the 3D preview. Click it to generate an analysis of the current packing arrangement.
In the Palletize All Results
After Palletize All completes, the results dialog includes an "Explain Assignment" button. Click it to get an AI explanation of how items were distributed across pallets and why.
What the AI Analyzes
When you request an AI analysis, Claude examines the pallet arrangement and provides:
Placement Explanation
Why each item was placed where it is. For example:
- "The heaviest items (Carton A, 45 kg each) form the base layer to maximize stability"
- "Fragile items are positioned on the top layer with no items stacked above them"
- "Items are arranged in an interlock pattern to prevent lateral shifting"
Improvement Suggestions
Specific, actionable recommendations. For example:
- "Consider rotating layers every 2 levels to improve cross-layer interlocking"
- "Two items overhang the pallet edge by 30 mm — switching to a EUR2 (1200 x 1000 mm) pallet would eliminate the overhang"
- "The center of gravity is offset 8% to the right — placing the heavier cartons toward the center would improve balance"
Risk Assessment
Potential issues the AI identifies. For example:
- "Stack height (1,750 mm) is close to the max (1,800 mm) — any settling during transport could cause items to shift"
- "Weight distribution is uneven across quadrants — the front-left quadrant carries 40% of the total weight"
Language
AI Analysis responds in the language matching your UI locale setting:
- English UI → analysis in English
- Turkish UI → analysis in Turkish
The AI automatically detects the appropriate language. You do not need to configure this.
When AI Analysis Is Useful
| Scenario | Value |
|---|---|
| Reviewing a complex mixed pallet | AI explains why certain items are grouped or positioned |
| Training new warehouse staff | Plain-language explanations help staff understand packing logic |
| Communicating with customers | AI-generated summaries are clear enough to share |
| Investigating a low stability score | AI identifies specific causes and suggests fixes |
| Comparing different packing patterns | Run AI analysis on each to get a qualitative comparison |
Limitations
- AI Analysis is optional — all pallet features work without it
- Analysis requires an Anthropic API key configured by your organization's admin
- Each analysis makes an API call — there may be a brief delay (typically 2–5 seconds)
- The AI provides guidance based on the visible arrangement — it does not run additional physics simulations beyond what the solver and securing analysis already calculate
AI Analysis complements the quantitative Securing Analysis — use Securing Analysis for hard numbers (stability score, wrap specs, strap counts) and AI Analysis for qualitative explanations and suggestions.
