Adding Library Items to Plans
Once your Item Library is populated, adding items to a load plan is quick. The editor's Items Panel connects directly to the library, letting you browse, search, and add items without leaving the planning view.
Opening the Add from Library Dialog
- Open a load plan in the editor
- In the Items Panel on the left side, click + Add from Library
- The library browser dialog opens
Browsing and Searching
The dialog shows all items in your organization's library. By default, items are sorted by most recently used.
To search: type in the search bar at the top. Results filter instantly by name and SKU.
To filter: use the filter chips below the search bar to narrow by:
- Item type (Cuboid / Cylinder / Irregular)
- Fragile / Non-fragile
- Has 3D model
To sort: use the sort dropdown to order by name, most used, or most recently created.
Each item card shows:
- Item name and SKU
- Dimensions (L × W × H) and weight per unit
- 3D model thumbnail (if a STEP file has been processed)
- Usage count across plans
Adding Items
To add a single item:
- Click the item card — it highlights to confirm selection
- Set the quantity in the quantity field that appears
- Click Add to Plan
To add multiple different items in one operation:
- Click the first item card — a checkbox appears selected
- Click additional item cards to select them
- Set quantities individually for each selected item using the quantity fields
- Click Add Selected to Plan
All selected items are added to the plan's item list and appear in the Unplaced section of the Items Panel. Run the optimizer to place them.
Adding Assemblies
Assembly items are marked with a tree icon in the library browser. When you click to add an assembly:
- A component preview panel opens showing all components and quantities
- If the assembly has optional components, checkboxes allow you to deselect any
- Set the quantity of assembly instances to add
- Click Add Assembly to Plan
Mandatory components are added in the quantities defined by the assembly structure multiplied by the instance count. Optional components follow your selections.
For assemblies configured with "Place components individually", each component appears as a separate item in the plan. The Items Panel groups them under the parent assembly name with a collapsible tree view.
Editing Item Properties for a Specific Plan
After adding a library item to a plan, you may need to adjust its properties for that particular shipment — for example, a different quantity, a weight that differs from the library value due to additional packaging, or a specific fragility setting for a customer order.
- In the Items Panel, find the item in the Unplaced or Placed list
- Click the item to select it
- Click the edit (pencil) icon in the item details bar
- Modify the properties
- Click Save
These changes apply only to this instance in this plan. The library record is not modified.
Removing Items from a Plan
To remove an item that was added from the library:
- Select the item in the Items Panel
- Click the delete (trash) icon, or press Del on your keyboard with the item selected in the 3D viewport
- The item is removed from the plan's item list
Removing an item from a plan does not affect the library record or any other plans.
Adding New Items Directly in the Editor
If an item you need does not exist in the library, you can create it directly in the editor without leaving the planning view:
- In the Items Panel, click + Add Item (not "Add from Library")
- Fill in the item properties in the inline form
- Check Save to library if you want this item to be reusable in future plans
- Click Add to Plan
If you check Save to library, the item is added to the Item Library simultaneously and appears there for future use.
Updating to Latest Library Version
If a library item's specifications have been updated since you added it to a plan, a "Library updated" indicator may appear next to the item in the Items Panel. To pull in the latest version:
- Remove the item from the plan (note its quantity first)
- Click Add from Library
- Find and re-add the item with the correct quantity
The plan will now use the current library version of the item.
Updating an item's version in a plan resets its placement — it will move to the Unplaced list. Re-run the optimizer or manually re-place it after updating.
