Container Preferences
LOP's container library includes ISO shipping containers, truck and trailer types, air cargo ULDs, and any custom containers your organization has defined. For teams that only work with a specific subset of vessel types, the full list can become noisy when creating plans.
Container Preferences let you define which container types appear in the container picker, keeping your workflow focused on the vessels you actually use.
Where to Configure Preferences
Go to Settings → Container Preferences. You will see a list of all available container types organized by category (Sea, Truck, Air, Custom). Each type has a toggle you can enable or disable.
Only container types with the toggle enabled will appear in the container picker when:
- Creating a new plan
- Adding a container to an existing multi-container plan
- Browsing the container library from the editor
All types are enabled by default for new accounts.
What Gets Affected
Container preferences affect the picker interface — the dropdown or selection panel where you choose a container type. They do not delete or modify any existing container definitions, and they do not affect plans that were already created.
Specifically:
- Disabled types are hidden from the container picker across the entire application
- Existing plans that use a disabled container type continue to work normally
- If a team member sends you a plan link that uses a container type you have disabled in your preferences, the plan will still open and display correctly
Container preferences are per-account, not organization-wide. Each team member can configure their own set of preferred container types independently. A manager who handles both ocean and road freight can keep all types visible, while a team member who only books ocean containers can hide the truck and air types.
Recommended Setup by Role
Ocean Freight Specialist Enable: 20' GP, 40' GP, 40' HC, 45' HC Disable: Truck types, air ULDs
Road Transport Planner Enable: 53' Dry Van, 48' Dry Van, 13.6m Curtainsider, Mega Trailer, Swap Bodies Disable: ISO sea containers, air ULDs
Air Freight Coordinator Enable: LD3 (AKE), LD7 (AKH), LD11, PMC Pallet Disable: Sea and truck types
Multi-Modal or Operations Manager Keep all types enabled — the full container library gives you maximum flexibility when setting up new plans.
Custom Containers in Preferences
Custom containers your organization has defined always appear in the container picker by default. You can hide individual custom containers from the picker using the same toggle mechanism in Settings → Container Preferences → Custom section.
Hiding a custom container from the picker does not prevent plans that already use it from functioning. It only removes it from the selection interface going forward.
Changing Preferences
You can update your container preferences at any time without affecting any existing plans or data. Changes take effect immediately — the next time you open the container picker, the updated selection will be reflected.
